Things are getting better

I’m having some fun with using my 70-200mm telephoto to take some landscape shots.  It’s really interesting to see the compression effect you get using these longer lenses.   The weather was pretty gloomy when I took this one but there was just enough light breaking through…  Then the light broke through :-)

Back in post-processing, it need a little colour correction and a basic curves adjustment.  Nik Software Color Efex Pro 3 helped with a little bit of “Glamour Glow”, painted-in.

Searchlight on the sea

You have to wait.  You have to take the time to catch that moment.  In life where so much is “on demand” you find that in waiting for a sunset; you are not in control.  You wait for it.  You come to it.

This is one of those sunsets; the weather looked a bit bleak and little chance of any decent shots.  And then the sun broke through the clouds, shining a huge searchlight on the sea.  Then over the next few minutes it came in and out of the clouds; the scene was constantly changing.

I processed this HDR set with the aim of maintaining the feel, the dark and moody but with hope breaking through.

An image like this needs limited processing to my mind; just enough to try and replicate what the eye saw and the heart felt.
